The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin
Mary: Monday, December 8th is a Holy Day of obligation in the
United States. Mary, under the title of Immaculate Conception, is the
patroness of the United States and this Solemnity is always observed
as a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass schedules for area churches are as

6:00 pm Abbott
8:00 am Hillsboro 5:00 pm Penelope

CHRISTMAS RECONCILIATION: Confessions in Abbott will be on Dec. 8th at 6:45 pm after Mass. There will be an extra priest available to hear confessions.

MINISTER SCHEDULES: New schedules for Lectors, Altar Servers, Ushers, and Eucharistic Ministers will be coming out in December. We are always looking for new lectors and altar servers and ushers. At this time, we are in need of more lectors, as we have only four lectors for Saturday and six for our Sunday liturgies. Lectors need to have received the sacrament of Confirmation. Altar Servers need to have received the sacrament of First Holy Communion. Head Ushers need to be an adult. Training is available. If you are new and wish to be added or need to make any changes, including a new contact number, please include it on the information sheet located on the back table. Please put these in the collection basket by December 7. Hope to see some new faces.

CHRISTMAS SOCIAL: KJT, KJZT, and KC Christmas Meetings/Social will be held on Sunday, December 14th. KJT will not meet; KJZT will meet at 10:30 a.m. followed with a program by the KJZT Jrs., lunch and a visit from Santa. Bring a vegetable, salad or dessert and join the fun. Everyone is welcome. If you are planning to come, please sign up on the list in the rear of the church by the December 7th. We need to have a number for ordering the food. (The KJT meeting will be December 21, following the 8:00 Mass in the Mother’s room.)

KJZT JUNIORS: The next meeting of the KJZT Juniors will be Sunday morning, December 14, at 10:30 am in the hall. Following the meeting, the juniors will perform at the parish Christmas party. Junior members, please dress in holiday colors and wear a Santa hat if you have one.

SPECIAL COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND: Senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests have spent their lives ministering to others, often for little, if any, pay. Their sacrifices now leave their religious communities without adequate savings for retirement and health care. Your gift to the collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious next weekend Dec. 13-14, supports the day-to-day care of roughly 35,000 senior religious, providing necessities such as prescription medications and nursing care. Please give to those who have given a lifetime.

COLLECTION ENVELOPES: The 2015 collection envelopes are available to be picked up. They can be found on the table at the back of church. Also, if you need a statement showing the total of your yearly contributions that were made through your church envelopes, please contact Agnes Timmons after the first of the year.
