THANK YOU: Many, many thanks to all those individuals who helped in any way with the CCD Hamburger Supper last Wednesday. Thanks to our volunteers including those who cooked and served the meal and to all those who came out and supported the fundraiser by purchasing the meal.

RICE BOWL: Our parish will be participating in Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program as a way to encounter Jesus through others. Rice Bowls will be available on the back table starting on Ash Wednesday. Please be sure to take home a Rice Bowl and use this fun and easy resource to deepen your family’s Lenten experience and make a difference in the lives of the poor.

ASH WEDNESDAY SECOND COLLECTION: On Ash Wednesday, we will take up the collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe.  This collection supports Catholic organizations that provide affordable shelter and train seminarians in a region that still struggles from the effects of Soviet rule.

SECOND COLLECTION: Next weekend, there will be a special collection for the Black and Indian Missions.  Your support helps evangelization efforts nationally, and specifically in our diocese through parish and school initiatives.

ASH WEDNESDAY: Ashes will be distributed at these times.

FASTING & ABSTINENCE: Catholics who are 18 year old and up, until their 59th birthday (when you begin your 60th year), are bound to fast (1 full meal and 2 “snacks” that don’t add up to a full meal) on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Also, Catholics who are 14 years  old and older are to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent.

CHOIR PRACTICE: There will be Choir practice after Mass on Monday, February 8th. Anyone is welcome to attend. We are always looking for new singers.

CCD NEWS: Students are encouraged to attend Ash Wednesday Mass with their family rather than have class. Classes will resume the following Wednesday.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Our parish will have Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m., on Fridays during Lent. In the past, they have been led by parish organizations or CCD classes. If any group wishes to lead the stations on one of the evenings, please contact Agnes Timmons.

APPRECIATION MEAL:  To show appreciation for all the gifts and talents that our parishioners share with the church, the Parish will host an Appreciation Meal on February 21, 2016 in the Parish Hall. We will gather at 5:00 p.m. and eat dinner at 5:30 p.m. All Parishioners are invited. (There is no cost.) Please use the RSVP form included with the bulletin and drop in the collection basket or register on the sign up sheet on the back bulletin board by February 14th so that we can get an accurate count for the caterer.
