THANK YOU:  Thank you for the support that you showed to the Church in Latin America collection. This will help the church in many areas in need.

THANK YOU: The Knights of Columbus are grateful for your generosity during last week’s pancake breakfast. A total of $968.00 was collected and will be given to Seminarian John Martin.

BLESSING OF THE THROATS: There will be Blessing of the Throats on the Feast Day of St. Blaise, Wednesday, February 3rd. There will be no Blessing of the Throats at the weekend Masses.

HAMBURGER SUPPER FUNDRAISER: The CCD Program will hold a Hamburger Supper on Wednesday Feb, 3rd at the parish hall from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The class is selling a hamburger plate that includes a hamburger with all of the trimmings, beans, French fries, tater tots, and ice tea for the price of $6.00. Plates ‘to go’ will also be sold, that evening. Proceeds from the sale will benefit religious education. The public is invited to come and purchase the delicious hamburger meal.  Your generosity is welcomed and appreciated.

FASTING & ABSTINENCE: Catholics who are 18 year old and up, until their 59th birthday (when you begin your 60th year), are bound to fast (1 full meal and 2 “snacks” that don’t add up to a full meal) on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Also, Catholics who are 14 years  old and older are to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Our parish will have Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m., on Fridays during Lent. In the past, they have been led by parish organizations or CCD classes. If any group wishes to lead the stations on one of the evenings, please contact Agnes Timmons so that it can be scheduled.

KJT/KJZT: Meetings will be held immediately after Mass Sunday, January 31.  Please plan to attend.

APPRECIATION MEAL:  To show appreciation for all the gifts and talents that our parishioners share with the church, the Parish will host an Appreciation Meal on February 21, 2016 in the Parish Hall. We will gather at 5:00 p.m. and eat dinner at 5:30 p.m. All Parishioners are invited. (There is no cost.) Please use the RSVP form included with the bulletin and drop in the collection basket or register on the sign up sheet on the back bulletin board by February 14th so that we can get an accurate count for the caterer.

 SCHOLARSHIPS:  The Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas – KJZT is now accepting 2016 scholarship applications.  Written requests for applications must be made by the student in one of the following ways: Mail: P. Box 18896 Austin, TX  78760-8896; Fax: (512) 444-6887; Email:  info@kjzt.org. To be eligible for a scholarship, an applicant must be a member in good standing for at least one year.  Scholarships are available to high school graduates who are planning to attend college or current college students.  The Fraternal also offers scholarships to members who are planning to attend or are currently attending a technical or vocational school full time. Members who are active participants in the Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas Junior Division and its programs of activities sponsored by an officially registered society can apply for additional scholarships each year for up to three years after the initial year has been completed. Applications must be postmarked no later than February 12, 2016.

CDA  LUNCHEON: CDA Court Sacred Heart #829 will host the annual Taco Soup and Salad luncheon on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2747 Jerry Mashek Drive, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The donation for Adults will be $7.00, and Children $3.00.  “Take-outs” will be available.  There will be a Silent Auction during the luncheon.  Raffle tickets are available for $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00.  For tickets contact Linda Bole, at 254-580-9208.

BISHOP’S GUILD: There are some brochures located on the back table for parishioners who are interested in joining the Bishop’s Guild. The Bishop’s Guild provides funds to help support the growth of the Catholic Church in the 21st century in the Diocese of Fort Worth.
