FEAST OF CORPUS CHRISTI ACTIVITIES: Father Joe will preach a parish mission focusing on the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. Each day starts in Church with Mass at 6:00 p.m. and continues with the Mission Talk at 6:30 in the parish hall. Light refreshments will be available each day. All are encouraged to attend.

Wednesday, June 14th – The historical roots of the Eucharist

Thursday, June 15th – The theology of the Eucharist

Friday, June 16th – Eucharistic miracles and devotion

Saturday, June 17th the 6:00pm Vigil Mass will conclude with a Eucharistic procession through the streets of Abbott.  The procession will last less than one hour.  A hay ride will be provided for those who have difficulty walking.   The procession will conclude with benediction in the Church.

All altar servers are encouraged to join in the Corpus Christi procession.  Servers are asked to arrive at the Saturday Mass 15 minutes early, vest in cassock and surplice and sit together in the front pews.  After communion, we will carry lighted candles, incense and the crucifix in procession together with the Blessed Sacrament.

CONFIRMATION: Congratulations to Blake Pustejovsky who received the sacrament of Confirmation last Saturday. May the Holy Spirit always guide you.

COMING UP: There will be an Installation of Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist during Mass on the weekend of June 24th & 25th. All Lectors and Ministers are urged to be present for this occasion.

KC MEETING: The Knights of Columbus will have their quarterly meeting on Monday, June 19th in the Smid Center at 6:30 p.m. There will be a meal provided.

MINISTER SCHEDULES: This is the last weekend to make changes to the new minister schedule coming out in July.  If you are new and wish to be added or need to make any changes, please include it on the information sheet located on the back table and drop in the collection basket

SENIOR SOCIAL: The next Senior Social will be held on Monday, June 12th at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Chicken and drinks will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share.  All seniors are invited to enjoy an evening out with friends. (Individuals or couples where one of the spouses has reached the age of 60 years young are welcome to attend this function.)

INTENTIONS NEEDED: We have openings for Cross Light intentions. Anyone wishing to send in requests may do so by enclosing the intention and donation in a specially marked envelope and placing it in the collection basket. (Donations are typically $2-$3.)

PARISH DATABASE: The parish is making every effort to get a listing of all the Catholics who live within our parish boundaries. If you are a parishioner or are new to the parish and have not completed a parish registration form, please take one from the back table.  Also, if you are aware of any homebound individuals, please take them a form and assist them in completing and returning it. They can be mailed to the church at 601 W. Houston, Abbott, Texas 76621 or dropped in the collection basket.

KJZT JUNIORS: The KJZT Juniors will meet on Wednesday, June 14, at 6:30 pm in the Smid Center.

CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS: Hillsboro CDA Court #2143 will meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the parish hall at Our Lady of Mercy Church.  All ladies of the parish are invited.

HILLSBORO INTERFAITH MINISTRIES: HIM is a county wide entity which provides food and clothing among other things to those less fortunate.  Monetary donations, food, and clothing can be delivered to the distribution center located 214-A East Elm Street in Hillsboro (across the street from the closed Wells Fargo). Also, the center can always use extra volunteers.  To get more information about contributing or how to become a volunteer, please contact George Harris at 254-580-2717.

GRIEF SUPPORT: A grief support group meeting will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, June 15th at St. Joseph’s Hall next to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  This is a support group for those in the community who want to gain a better understanding of all the changes experienced in the grief process.

CDA FUNDRAISER: The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Sacred Heart #829 of West will host the annual ‘Taste of West’ fundraiser on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the St. Mary’s Parish Center, 507 W. Spruce Street in West, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
