THANK YOU: Many, many thanks to all those individuals who helped in any way with the Spaghetti Dinner last Sunday. Thank you so much for your service to our parish. Volunteers included those who cooked and served the meal,  our KJZT Jrs. who kept the tea glasses full, all the individuals who provided the wonderful desserts   and last but not least, all those who came out and supported the fundraiser.

THANK YOU: Abbott KJZT officers and members would like to thank everyone for their support (baking, buying, donations) of their Bake Sale last Sunday which raised $1,733.00 to help with expenses for Mr. Terry Timmons in his diaconate training.  With the donation from the KJZT Home Office, the total for this project and money given to Mr. Timmons is $2,308.00.  We appreciate everyone’s help in making this worthy project such a great success!!

THANK YOU: Thank you very much for your generous support of the Catholic University of America special collection last weekend. Your support will enable Catholic University to expand its impact in preparing the next generation of leadership for our Church and nation.

SPECIAL COLLECTION: Next weekend, September 10th & 11th there will be a special collection to help our brothers and sisters who have recently experienced historic flooding in Louisiana. The Fort Worth Diocese will send the funds immediately to those who have been impacted by severe damage to homes, businesses, churches and schools. These funds will provide necessities such as shelter, clean water, food, and medical care.

MASS INTENTIONS: We currently have a back log of Mass intentions that need to be said. Any new Mass intentions, with the exception of a newly deceased individual, will be sent to the Chancery Office at the Diocese.  An announcement will be placed in the bulletin when we will be able to take new intentions.

ELECTION: Pastoral Council elections will be held next weekend. Prayerfully consider the following names to fill 4 places on the council. The three individuals with the most votes will have a three year term. The next individual will complete a one year term that has been vacant.  Jeanette Urbanovsky, John Blaha, Ben Pustejovsky, Kevin Beene, Brad Padgett, Kat Pustejovsky, Louise Sullins, and Patrick Timmons.

RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Class will be offered on Sunday evenings, in the parish hall, from 7:00 – 8:30 beginning September 18th. This class is open to anyone wishing to join the Catholic Church, as well as those who want to have a greater understanding of the Catholic faith. All parishioners are invited. Individuals who are considering joining the Catholic faith need to contact Father Joe during office hours.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION: Our parish is offering the adults an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith. There will be two options available to attend: 1. RCIA Class held on Sunday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30, beginning September 18th. 2. Wednesday evenings in the parish hall, from 6:30 – 7:30 which will correspond closely with the CCD schedule, starting September 14th. We will be using the video series “Symbolon: The Catholic Faith Explained”. There is no cost for either session. All adults in the parish are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

PENELOPE BAZAAR: The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary will hold its Annual Bazaar on Sunday, September 18th.  BBQ beef tips, sausage and all the trimmings will be served from 11:30 – 5:30. Adults and Plates to Go are $9.50 and children under 12 are $6.00.  An Auction starts at 1:00. Other events include Bingo, Surprise Package, Horseshoe Tournament, Country Store, Raffle, and more.

VOCATIONS: The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth will be hosting a Discernment Weekend for women 18+ and a Come & See day for young women 14-18 the weekend of September 23-25. Please see the flyer on the back bulletin board.

CCD: Wednesday, September 7th is the first night of CCD.  We will be attending 6:00 p.m. Mass.  All teachers need to be there, as Father Joe will be giving a blessing. We will have a parent meeting and cookies in the hall afterwards. Please remember to bring all registration information to the meeting.

MINISTER SCHEDULES: New schedules for Lectors, Altar Servers, Ushers, and Eucharistic Ministers will be coming out in October.  Lectors need to have received the sacrament of Confirmation. We are in great need of Altar Servers for Saturday evening. To serve on the altar, you need to have received the sacrament of First Holy Communion.  Head Ushers need to be an adult. Training is available for all these roles. If you are new and wish to be added or need to make any changes, including a new contact number, please include it on the information sheet located on the back table. Please put these in the collection basket by September 11th.  We hope to see some new faces.
