FASTING & ABSTINENCE: Catholics who are 18 year old and up, until their 59th birthday (when you begin your 60th year), are bound to fast (1 full meal and 2 “snacks” that don’t add up to a full meal) on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Also, Catholics who are 14 years
old and older are to abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday
and on all Fridays of Lent.

CCD NEWS: Students are encouraged to attend Ash Wednesday Mass with their family rather than have class. Classes will resume the following Wednesday.

ASH WEDNESDAY SECOND COLLECTION: On Ash Wednesday, we will take up the collection for the Church in Central and Eastern Europe. This collection supports Catholic organizations that provide affordable shelter and train seminarians in a region that still struggles from the effects of Soviet rule. By providing pastoral care, catechesis, and funding for building renovations, your donations help to restore the Church and build the future in the regions Please be generous.

RICE BOWL: Our parish will be participating in CRS Rice Bowl Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program as a way to encounter Jesus through others, especially through the most vulnerable in our world. Rice Bowls will be available on the back table starting on Ash Wednesday. Please be sure to take home a Rice Bowl and use this fun and easy resource to deepen your family’s Lenten experience and make a difference in the lives of the poor.

SECOND COLLECTION: Next weekend, there will be a special collection for the Black and Indian Missions. Your support helps evangelization efforts nationally, and specifically in our diocese through parish and school initiatives.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Our parish will have Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m., on Fridays during Lent. We still have these dates open for any group to lead them: February 20, March 6, 20, and April 3. Please contact Agnes Timmons.

THANK YOU: Many thanks to all those who came out and supported the Hamburger Supper. The CCD Program greatly appreciates your generosity.

POINSETTIAS: The poinsettias will be removed from the altar for the Lenten season. Please take as many as you wish.

FAT TUESDAY LUNCHEON: The Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #829 will host the annual Fat Tuesday Taco Soup and Salad Luncheon on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2547 Jerry Mashek Drive, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The donation for Adults will be $7.00 and Children $3.00. “Take-outs” will be available. GRIEF SUPPORT: A grief support group meeting will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, February 19th at St. Joseph’s Hall next to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
