SECOND COLLECTION: Our parish will take up the Catholic Relief Services Collection this weekend.  Please be as generous as you can.

RICE BOWL: We encounter Maria in Mexico, where a community of hardworking women share joys, sorrows and fellowship while growing economic opportunity at a greenhouse.  How have your communities helped you encounter Christ anew this Lent?

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Our parish will have Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m., on Fridays during Lent. If any group wishes to lead the stations, please contact the office.  Available dates include: March 31, & April 7.

PENANCE SERVICE: Please take advantage of the opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent. A Penance Service will be held on Monday, March 27th. The service will begin with a program at 6:30 p.m. followed by confessions until 8:00 p.m. Please plan to be there for the beginning.

RCIA: Class will meet on Sun., March 19th from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The topics include:  Catholic Social Teaching: Building a Civilization of Love; What is Catholic Social Teaching?; Building a Society Where All Human Persons Flourish; Participation and Responsibility in Society; Social Justice and Our Solidarity with the Human Family; Living Social Teaching; Our Responsibility to Serve the People in Daily Lives. Also, Protecting All Human Life: Abortion, Euthanasia, Human Person, etc.; Economic Activity and Social/Political Responsibilities; Love and Care for the Poor; The Call to Serve the Common Good; The Family as the Fundamental Cell of Society; The Principle of Subsidiarity.

ADULT FORMATION: The Adult Formation Class will meet on Wednesday, March 29th.  The topics  include: A Catholic Moral Vision: Virtue, Grace and the Path to Happiness, Morality Is the Path to True Happiness; The Problem of Moral Relativism; Law and Happiness; Virtue and Freedom; The Moral Act; Conscience and the Formation of Conscience; Living in the Freedom of Christ.

CHOIR PRACTICE: There will be Choir practice on Tuesday, March 28th at 6:30 p.m..  Everyone is welcome to attend.

COUNCIL MEETINGS: The Finance Council will meet on Monday, April 3rd, at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  The Pastoral Council will meet immediately after,  at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS: Hillsboro CDA Court #2143 will meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the parish hall at Our Lady of Mercy Church.  All ladies of the parish are invited.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: Adoration will take place every Saturday beginning at 4:30 p.m.  and ends with Benediction at 5:30.  Please sign the sheet at the entrance of the Church to ensure that someone is available to adore.

PARISH DATABASE: The parish is making every effort to get a listing of all the Catholics who live within our parish boundaries. If you are a parishioner or are new to the parish and have not completed a parish registration form, please take one from the back table.  Also, if you are aware of any homebound individuals, please take them a form and assist them in completing and returning it. They can be mailed to the church at 601 W. Houston, Abbott, Texas 76621 or dropped in the collection basket.

HILLSBORO INTERFAITH MINISTRIES: HIM is a county wide entity which provides food and  clothing among other things to those less fortunate.  Monetary donations, food, and clothing can be delivered to the distribution center located 214-A East Elm Street in Hillsboro. Also, the center can always use extra volunteers.  To get more information about contributing or how to become a volunteer, please contact George Harris at 254-580-2717.

MINISTER SCHEDULES: New minister schedules for Altar Servers, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharistic, and Ushers are ready to be picked up.  In an effort to save postage, please get yours from the back table.

FUNDRAISER:  The History of West Museum will hold its 5th Annual Spring Fundraiser at the West KC Hall on Sunday, April 2nd. The meal consists of fried chicken, sausage, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, slaw, dessert and tea will begin at 11:00 a.m. Cost is $10.  To-go plates will be available.

SCHOLARSHIP: The Catholic Daughters is offering a scholarship to Hillsboro and Abbott graduates this year.  To get an application please contact Helen Mach at 254-582-3932 or go online to the Hillsboro Church site. Computer applications will be accepted until April 20th.

SCHOLARSHIP: The deadline to apply for the Monsignor George Doskocil KC scholarship is April 1st.  Applications are located on the back table.

DIOCESAN TRAVEL PROGRAM: Our own, Father Joe will be the chaplain for the upcoming pilgrimage to France. It will take place October 18-30, 2017. So, plan ahead.
