CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to the second grade CCD class on receiving the sacrament of First Holy Communion this weekend! The First Communicants are Jasmine DeFord, Kimberly DeFord, Landry Janek, Ana Lilia Munoz-Carty, Paxton Pustejovsky, Riley Sustala, Madeline Svacina, and Hogan Warren. To the First Communicants, may the Holy Spirit continue to work through you in growing and in sharing your Catholic faith, and may you continue to feel the “wholeness” that you feel today in receiving Jesus at every Mass.

PASTORAL COUNCIL ELECTION: This weekend, each adult of the parish will have the opportunity to vote for three nominees to our Pastoral Council. Voting will take place immediately after communion. Please consider these nominees: Molly Gerik, Andy Pustejovsky, Doug Pustejovsky, Ernie Pustejovsky.
KJZT DISTRICT X MEETING: The Abbott KJZT is hosting the District X meeting being held today (May 3rd) in the parish hall. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at 12:00 noon and the meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. Activities include a prayer service, memorial service, business meeting, awarding of 50 year pins and entertainment provided by the KJZT Juniors.
MAY CROWNING: The KJZT Juniors invite the youth of the parish to join them as they honor and crown our Blessed Mother Mary with flowers at the 8 am Mass on Mother’s Day, May 10. Participants are asked to meet in the mothers’ room in the back of church before Mass so they can walk in together. Children under age 6 should be accompanied by an adult. Don’t forget to bring a spring bouquet of flowers for Mary.
COUNCIL MEETINGS: The Finance Council will meet on Monday, May 11th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The Pastoral Council will meet immediately after, at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The KC’s will have a Pancake Breakfast on Mother’s Day, May 10th, after Mass in the Parish Hall. Free will donations will go to Gabriel Project. All are invited enjoy breakfast and support a worthy cause.

MISSIONARY: The Sisters of St. Francis’ missioners will be speaking at Sunday Masses next week. The Sisters serve those who are poor, with foreign missions in Mexico and home missions in Appalachia. In remote areas of Mexico they work to build faith communities where there are no priests for regular Sunday Masses. Sisters also give children living in extreme poverty the opportunity to obtain an education plus emergency needs of food and medicine. Appalachian ministries include faith development and pastoral care, adult literacy, and emergency outreach of food, clothing, and shelter for the poor. Please help make a difference in the lives of people suffering from poverty with your prayers and financial support.
RETREAT: Saint Joseph’s Catholic Daughters will have a “Holy Hush – Be Still and Listen to God” retreat presented by Judy Hoelscher on Saturday, May 30th, from 8:30 – 3:00 p.m. The Catholic Daughters are proud to welcome Ms. Hoelscher who has a MA in Pastoral Theology, is a gifted retreat facilitator, and has been a musician and Hospital/hospice chaplain for over 27 years. Lunch will be served from 12:00 – 1:00 and will cost $5.00. Please RSVP to Jennie Kunkel at 254-776-5109 by Friday, May 22nd.
BBQ DINNER/RAFFLE: Our annual BBQ dinner is quickly approaching. The dinner and raffle will be held on Sunday, May 24th.
