FISH/CHICKEN DINNER/RAFFLE: Our annual Fried Fish & Chicken dinner is quickly approaching. The dinner and raffle will be held on Sunday, November 20th. At this time, we would like to start collecting raffle items or cash to go towards the purchase of an item. To donate, please contact Agnes Timmons at 254-580-8125. So that tickets can be printed, please contact by November 6th. All donations will be greatly appreciated.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY: Next week, we will celebrate World Mission Sunday. Its theme this year is “Mercy Changes the World.” Pope Francis invites the entire Church to support the young mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and Europe, where priests, religious and lay leaders serve some of the poorest of the poor. Please keep the Missions in your prayers and be as generous as you can.
THANK YOU: Many thanks to all those parishioners who helped cook, serve, and clean up after the pancake breakfast which benefited the Care Net Pregnancy Center. A total of $631.00 was sent to the center.
CEMETERY BOARD: Kevin Beene and Andy Pustejovsky have been elected to three year terms on the board of the Fatima Cemetery Association.
RCIA: Class will take place on Sunday evening, October 16th from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m in the Parish Hall. Because class did not meet last Sunday, we will cover two classes. The topics include: What is the Bible? God is the Author of Scripture, The Bible Tells One Story of Salvation, the Canon of Scripture and Its Development, Interpreting the Bible. The second class will cover The Story of Salvation: Creation, Fall, & Redemption. All people are invited to attend.
ADULT FORMATION: Come join the Adult Formation class on Wednesday from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The topics include: Why Did Jesus Die?, Christ’s Sacrifice Fulfills and Surpasses All Old Testament Sacrifices, Jesus’ Descent Into Hell, The Resurrection of Christ, Embracing the Crosses in Our Lives and Living the Paschal Mystery. All are invited.
PARISH DATABASE: Our parish roster is in need of updating. Because the information will be entered into a database, it will require all individuals and families, those who are currently registered, as well as those who are new to the parish and would like to become registered parishioners, to complete a registration form. (Families who registered through the CCD program do not need to complete another form.) If you are aware of any homebound individuals, please take them a form and assist them in completing and returning it. Extra forms are located at all entrances of the church. Please complete all parts of the form that apply to you. Forms can be mailed to: 601 W. Houston, Abbott, 76621 or dropped in the collection basket. Forms need to be returned by October 30th if at all possible.
KJZT JUNIORS: The next meeting of the KJZT Junior Division will be Sunday, October 16 at 2:00 pm in the Smid Center. Juniors need to wear their royal blue t-shirts. After the meeting, juniors will place crosses and flags on graves at Fatima Cemetery.

ESSAY CONTEST: The 2016 MARYKNOLL Magazine Student Essay Contest is open to students in grades 6-8 and 9-12. This year’s topic is “Caring for Our Common Home.” The winning essayists share scholarship money as well as national recognition in MARYKNOLL magazine and on its website. Flyers with more information are located on the back table.
CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS: Court Sacred Heart #829 of West is having a membership drive. All Catholic women 18 years and older are invited to join the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. For more information, please pick up a flyer from the back table.
GRIEF SUPPORT: A grief support group meeting will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, October 20th at St. Joseph’s Hall next to St. Mary’s Catholic Church. This is a support group for those in the community who want to gain a better understanding of all the changes experienced in the grief process. This month the meeting will be led by Deacon Ronnie Sykora, Deacon of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption in West.
